  • You don't have enough stuff! Why don't you have more products?
You are correct, I don't have a whole lot up for sale right now. I do apologize, I am just starting this venture and its taken a lot of time to get to even this point. I fully intend to grow, but I am also doing so from my one bedroom apartment, working a full time job (to support this dream), and caring for my geriatric 19 year old cat. I don't have any external funding, I am really doing this all from scratch to the best of my ability from where I am at in life. But hey, don't just stop here! There are SO many merfolk creators from the big fish like Finfolk, Mertailor, Mernation, and Merbella, to other small indie businesses like mine! Take a look at the creators below if you can't find something you like at my shop- https://www.sparklegirlcostume.com/ https://www.jurassicmerman.com/ https://shopvancouvermermaid.com/ https://www.thelemonademermaid.com/ https://www.nereidstudios.com/ https://tigersharkmermaid.com/ And there are so many more! And you can of course always look on the various online marketplaces for second hand mermaid apparel. Be careful of scammers though, always protect yourself and do your research.
  • Are your products machine washable?
I highly recommend hand washing with a gentle detergent and air drying only! Do not by any means put any products with boning in them in the dryer! TECHNICALLY some of my products have gone through the wash before and it is certainly not the end of the world, so if you threw something in by accident please don't panic! It is more than likely just fine. Just try not to make it a habit! ALSO be sure to wash after every swim! Pool chemicals do have the ability to fade/green the printed colors if the products are left un-washed!
  • There is some wonky looking stitching on my product, what's that about?
I am very keen on my products being very thoroughly stitched together! I really don't want your item to fall apart after one use, so for almost all of my construction seams I go over them twice- once with a long straight stitch to make sure everything goes together cleanly and then a second self-securing stitch that should ensure that even if a thread or two comes loose the whole seam wont fall apart. Yes there could be some asymmetry or 'wonky looking' stitching on your product. While I do know how to sew I am always learning- and I am only human. Please keep in mind that you are receiving a hand-made piece of artwork, not a mass produced product. Every item I make has the potential to be slightly different from the one I made just before it. 'Tis the nature of independent fabrication~
  • Do you have any more FAQ's
I will definitely add more questions as I get asked them!
  • What is Mermaiding?
Mermaiding involves the practice of swimming while wearing a mermaid tail, typically made from flexible materials like fabric or silicone. The tail encompasses the legs and promotes the wearer to move through water like a dolphin or other aquatic mammal. The ensemble typically includes the mermaid tail or tail skin, which usually covers the lower body and is fitted with a monofin inside the fluke to aid in propulsion. The monofin is a singular swimming fin that fastens to both feet and helps the wearer glide through the water with ease. Mermaiding is a physically demanding activity that requires core strength, flexibility, and controlled breathing. Swimmers often practice techniques to maintain balance and streamline their body for efficient movement. It’s not just about looking like a mermaid—it also involves learning how to move gracefully and safely in the water while wearing the tail, which can be heavy or restrictive at times. Mermaiding can be done for fun, fitness, or even performance, and many enthusiasts join mermaid communities or participate in events where they can showcase their skills. Mermaiding, while a thrilling and magical activity, can be inherently dangerous due to the physical demands and potential risks involved. A tail’s design can restrict movement, and the added drag of the tail can tire the swimmer more quickly. For safety reasons, mermaiding should never be done alone. Always swim with a buddy or in a supervised area, as having a partner ensures that help is available in case of an emergency. Prioritize safety by knowing your limits, choosing appropriate swimming environments, and being mindful of the risks before taking the plunge.
